February 2022 | Wrap-Up

Research deadlines have been picking up and I’ve been falling behind on my ARC reading schedules. I also binge-read a KU sociopath romance four book series at the recommendation of a friend so as usual, any claims I have of not having time to read are purely lies.

Books Read:

Silk Fire by ZR Ellor – 1.5/5

  • I went into this with extremely high expectations after having followed the authors tweets for the last year or so and lord was I disappointed. everything about this book was a mess

So This Is Ever After by FT Lukens – 3.5/5

  • Fluffy post canon DnD campaign as the chosen one hilariously struggles to get together with his crush

Necessary Evils Quadrilogy by Onely James – 4/5

  • Unhealthy relationships and people who have no buisness getting together. i read 4 books in 4 days. Hit The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System (Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong) by  Mò Xiāng Tóng Xiù (墨香铜臭)me with that good shit

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake (trad pub version) – 4.5/5

  • I already enjoyed the self pub but man the Tor editors really helped clean up the pacing and some of the prose. Dark academia at it’s finest

Books in Progress:

Daughter of the Moon by Sue Lynn Tan- 30%

  • No progress since last month, but mostly due to other ARCs i’ve been putting off having pressing deadlines. i’ll get back to it soon^TM

The Way Spring Arrives edited by Yu Chen and Regina Kanyu Wang – 22%

  • Love all the translated Chinese short stories showing up these days. Its still early but i’ve yet to really resonate with a story. I’m sure i’ll get there eventually
